Capital’s Psychiatry and its Award for Murdering Workers

A group of bourgeois psychiatrists have announced that Anders Breivik who murdered 77 young people is a “psycho”, that he is criminally insane. This announcement of course came out after a month of research and testing. Breivik explicitly and proudly expressed his involvement with Nazis and that he holds unbridled hatred towards the left and all workers’ icons. Consequently, he planned one of the most massive bloodsheds against the young left wing and labour’s families. First, he detonated a bomb in downtown Oslo, and then less than two hours later, he attacked a summer camp for Workers’ Youth League. The Norwegian psychiatrists are discussing him; he is the focus of all their reports.
The psychiatrists’ hypotheses are not unrealistic ones – only if the entire global capital class, all of the statemen, politicians, economists, sociologists, psychologists, clergymen and all of the cultural ideological representatives of this class including those psychiatrists without exception – are included in this statement. The thoughts, ethics, intellects, logics, social values and bourgeois attitude are all products of the relationship of the production of surplus value. All of the offspring of capital are guardians of the exploitation and power of capital. They are the barbarians of capital that are formed within these thoughts, beliefs and feelings. They are all the equipment of wage-slavery being imposed upon the working class.
These thoughts, beliefs, intelligence, and cognitions are all manifestations of the alienation and distortion of their own actual humanity. The extensions of such a practice are nothing but a crime against freedoms, rights and human values and are an obstacle for the free growth of humanity. The social materialization of these thoughts, beliefs, and ethics all manifest themselves as racism, the slaughtering, fascism, and child abuse, as well as sexual and ethnic discrimination. The thoughts and values that are produced from the wage-slavery relationship are generated from the capitalist system. Based upon these elements, the capitalist class should be treated, however in reality; the entire system is a sickness, a sickness that needs to be eradicated. This system must cease to exist in order for humanity to heal and find its way to better thinking. Absolutely, the capitalist system with its thoughts and values must disappear forever and capitalists must be treated. How can this treatment be done? The answer is not that difficult. We must ask them to forget being capitalists and learn how to be human and along with other people, work within national councils, give opinion or to intervene. All in all, like other humans – to live.
Conscious workers around the world must take a look at the nature of this bourgeois psychiatry in this manner. However, the main issue is that the Norwegian psychiatrists’ statement is utterly not like this. On the contrary, they are the intellectuals, psychoanalysts, and psychiatrists of the bourgeoisie. Their psychiatry is the psychiatry of this system. They learn and obtain their knowledge and intellect from these relationships. Besides that, they have the dogma determined to acquit him. Breivik himself insists that he is a fascist, racist Nazi, and moreover that he is sane. Not only does he not deny it, he is proud of it. Based upon such a statement, he receives massive support from all Nazi and fascist forces. Breivik consciously and proudly defends his killing and up until now, he has no doubt about his actions. All bourgeois psychiatrists indeed know this. However, they continue to insist that Breivik under psychotic pressure and melancholia committed such a crime. One important question arises here – what would happen if Andres Breivik were a Norwegian dissenting worker, or if he were an anti-wage labour activist, or if he were an immigrant worker from Africa, Asia or Latin America? Furthermore, what if any one of these people injured someone, I am wondering if all of these Norwegian psychiatrists would state the same thing? Is there any evidence showing that they practice their disciplines this way?
The psychiatrists based upon their own diagnosis have suggested that Anders Breivik be committed to a mental hospital rather than go to prison. We also believe that prison or any capitalist punishment is not worthy for any man, and does not reduce the amount of crimes committed. There are no modifications or rehabilitation of an offender that will fix the problem. Not only it does not cure, rather it makes it worse. However, the issue here is that the Norwegian psychiatrists’ prescription only encourages those like Anders to kill more. Psychoanalysis, psychology, psychiatry, sociology, law, politics and social sciences are all disciplines that promote the role of capitalism. All of these sciences are an army of defense and protection of the relationship of producing surplus value and the wage-slavery system. Based upon this, bourgeois psychiatry and psychology are stakeholders in this system. These people have no prescription to rehabilitate Anders Breivik and others like him.
Currently, the capitalist system is in conflict with the conditions necessary for Breivik’s recovery. As long as capitalism exists, we are not able to fully build such conditions. However, by fighting against capitalism, we can build these conditions. The international workers’ movement must and can bring this issue to light, and based upon their own power, can impose this on capitalism or governments. We still do not know how the Norwegian legal system will recognize and react to the recommendations of the psychiatrists. However, when the bourgeois psychiatrists make such a statement, the outcome of the judicial process is clear. Probably it will be the same. We would like to mention here when we speak about left wing youth, it does not matter that they were Norwegian Social Democrats; rather what is important is that they are members of the working class. They were youth and based upon their own knowledge, they were dissidents against capitalism. However, under the reformist illusion, which dominates the working class of the world, they followed the party. They were victims because they were against capitalism. We do not know what decision the Norwegian legal system will make, but the task of any worker in Norway or elsewhere, is to condemn the attempt of the bourgeois psychiatrists to acquit Breivik.
